Job Description

Purpose of the Position

The Art Teacher is responsible for delivering engaging and creative art lessons that inspire students to develop their artistic skills, creativity, and appreciation for visual arts. The teacher will create a positive learning environment that encourages self-expression, critical thinking, and confidence while supporting students' overall development.

Key Responsibilities

Teaching & Learning

  • Plan, prepare, and deliver engaging Art lessons aligned with the school's curriculum.
  • Encourage creativity, imagination, and artistic expression through various art forms and techniques.
  • Teach drawing, painting, sculpture, mixed media, crafts, and other visual arts as appropriate.
  • Differentiate instruction to meet the diverse learning needs of students.
  • Integrate technology and creative teaching strategies into classroom activities where appropriate.

Assessment & Student Progress

  • Assess students' practical work and creative development through a variety of assessment methods.
  • Monitor students' progress and provide constructive feedback.
  • Maintain accurate records of students' achievements and progress.
  • Prepare student portfolios and support art exhibitions when required.

Classroom Management

  • Maintain a safe, organized, and inspiring art classroom.
  • Ensure the proper use, storage, and maintenance of art materials and equipment.
  • Promote positive classroom behavior and active student participation.

Curriculum Development

  • Develop lesson plans and creative learning activities aligned with curriculum objectives.
  • Contribute to curriculum planning and continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Stay updated with current art education practices and trends.

Communication & Collaboration

  • Communicate effectively with parents regarding students' progress and achievements.
  • Collaborate with colleagues, coordinators, and school leadership.
  • Participate in school meetings, events, exhibitions, and professional development activities.

Other Responsibilities

  • Organize and support school art exhibitions, competitions, and creative projects.
  • Supervise students during assigned duties and school activities.
  • Perform additional duties assigned by the Head of Department or School Management.

Job Requirements (JR)

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Fine Arts, Visual Arts, Art Education, Design, or a related field.
  • Teaching qualification or certification is preferred.

Experience

  • Minimum 2 years of teaching experience in Art or Visual Arts.
  • Experience teaching in an international school is an advantage.
  • Experience teaching Cambridge, IB, or other international curricula is preferred.
