Job Description
Purpose of the Position
The Chinese Teacher is responsible for delivering engaging and effective Chinese language lessons that develop students' listening, speaking, reading, and writing skills. The teacher will foster a positive learning environment, encourage cross-cultural understanding, and inspire students to achieve academic excellence.
Key Responsibilities
Teaching & Learning
- Plan, prepare, and deliver high-quality Chinese language lessons aligned with the school's curriculum.
- Develop students' listening, speaking, reading, and writing skills in Mandarin Chinese.
- Create an engaging, inclusive, and student-centered classroom environment.
- Differentiate instruction to meet students' varying learning abilities.
- Integrate educational technology and interactive teaching methods into lessons.
Assessment & Student Progress
- Prepare and administer assessments, quizzes, and examinations.
- Monitor and evaluate students' academic progress.
- Provide constructive feedback and support to students.
- Maintain accurate student records and assessment reports.
Classroom Management
- Establish and maintain a positive and disciplined classroom environment.
- Encourage active participation, confidence, and communication in Chinese.
- Promote respect, responsibility, and collaboration among students.
Communication & Collaboration
- Communicate effectively with parents regarding students' progress and learning needs.
- Collaborate with colleagues, coordinators, and school leadership.
- Participate in departmental meetings, school activities, and professional development programs.
Curriculum Development
- Prepare lesson plans and teaching materials.
- Contribute to curriculum review and continuous improvement.
- Stay updated with modern Chinese language teaching methodologies.
Other Responsibilities
- Participate in school events, cultural activities, and language competitions.
- Supervise students during assigned duties.
- Perform additional responsibilities assigned by the Head of Department or School Management.
Job Requirements (JR)
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Chinese Language, Chinese Education, Linguistics, Education, or a related field.
- Teaching qualification or certification is preferred.
- HSK or equivalent Chinese language certification is an advantage.
Experience
- Minimum 2 years of teaching experience in Chinese language instruction.
- Experience teaching in an international school is preferred.
- Experience teaching Cambridge, IB, or other international curricula is an advantage.
